Wheel-Throwing - Experiential Pottery
Location: 3Arts Studio @ 394 Joo Chiat Place Singapore 428078
The workshop begins with a wheel-throwing demonstration. Please be punctual as the steps are crucial for learning and you will not want to miss this! Classes will start promptly.
The 2.5-hour class is suitable for adults (individuals 12 years & up) with little or no pottery experience.
Immerse yourself in the process of throwing on the potter's wheel. Experience the peace and joy of making pottery with the guidance of an experienced instructor.
Fees include materials, tools, firing and glazing in one colour. Students will get to keep 1 of their favourite pieces from this session. You may keep more pieces, the teacher will explain during the class. Your handmade pieces will be available for collection after 8 weeks, as they require glazing with colour and 2 rounds of firing.
If you wish to glaze your own wares, the 2-Lessons option is for you! You may return to the studio to glaze your work after the pieces have been fired once in the kiln. Lesson 2 (Glazing) is about 1.5 hours.
We will arrange with you the date and time of your 2nd lesson after Lesson 1.
Please note there is strictly no sharing of wheels; If parents wish to accompany their child, each parent will sign up as 1 pax.
Whole session was fantastic from start to finish. Very patient and attentive instructor helping you every step of the process. Girlfriend and I both thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
I think that the instructor to student ratio can be reduced as pottery is difficult to grasp after one demo and guidance is required during the process of making pottery. We have to wait for a while for our turn to receive guidance as there were at least ten students, and the instructor ended up doing most of the shaping and built the structure of the item for me instead of me doing it. Think it will be great if there is an emphasis on how to grasp the techniques in layman's terms to ease a beginner into making pottery better.
Enjoyed my time learning and liked the uncle there who helped me with my pottery.
It's was a fun experience. The teachers were very helpful. The pottery class was a good size as well.
I found the trial class great, starting from basics of wedging clay to throwing. The instructor was friendly and helpful, and class size was only 4 of us which was good for learning
